ROLE - DOCTOR

Hello Doctor.

Can I call you "doctor"? Well, regardless of your feelings on the matter or whether you have the qualifications of being a doctor, this will now be your role. Your task will be simple - figure out who has been infected and help them. A bit daunting of a task, I know, however it will come with an upside!

You will be completely immune from the infected and will be given an item that will let you know how recently that person has been infected. If they have been infected in the first place. This item will take shape of whatever you wish it to be but will have a single (1) use - unfortunately.

Oh, and before you leave, there's a book titled "Doctors for Dummies" that you may find to be very interesting. It might help you out - help all of us out.

NOTES:
- The book will be updated every Monday at 9 AM of the new week.
- This is NOT a secret role, however it would be beneficial if you did not make your role public.
- You may request help from one (1) other player and one (1) NPC of your choice. You cannot change your choice.
- Pick one (1) person to save on Thursday, even if you are chosen to die that week.

Cantarella will choose Foxglove as her NPC coworker for all the reasons listed on my manic Charlie Day-style pro-con board and more. Please don't lead me astray, heart.

I'll be back with a PC pick later, but this will probably take more time to fully cook!! I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't ask for help from another player character until after the first trial because of the way she is, but I will not cuck someone else from being able to participate for too long hehe.

hey where's my little guy (w0 wednesday?)

[Since Cantarella has been back out in the central field on Wednesday afternoon cataloging the plants, perhaps she'll be able to run into her arborially inclined friend? It's all coming together and so neatly flowing...satisfying.]

I suppose some of these will help a bit, should anyone else come down with a cough.

Rosemary warned against falling ill, and given the throat tickles I heard out on the street when we arrived here, I thought it best to take up the responsibility now.

[Though playing the porch-to-porch games in costume had seemed to do more than any medicine clearing those sniffles up for anyone who seemed to suffer from them...she hasn't ruled out physical or psychosomatic effects, especially given everything else she's seen.]

How many people have gotten sick so far? [She's clocked Foxglove as rather evasive and is buckled in to deal with that, charming and direct for now.]

OKAY AS OF WEEK 0 we are mostly worried about the small but alarming list of people who are maintaining hunger so we'll start experimenting around helping those.

Hyunjung.

[At their response, Cantarella thinks she must have been onto something about the puppets (or the people behind them). Foxglove seems the most preoccupied with keeping hidden information safely contained.]

What an interesting distinction, yet I doubt you'd be asking if they weren't interconnected. [She brings her hand to her chin.] But if people have already fallen ill here, now, when we barely even know where we are...I'd like to get that out of the way first.

[If anything, the intensity of their response is more suspicious!

It also...seems incongruous from what Rosemary said and some of the other things that she's picked up.
] Am I to believe any precautions are just paranoia, then?

[Come on. She would prefer they didn't mince around this; it is a little bit of an insult to both her intelligence and her background.]

What's the nature of an illness that inspires so many precautions?

[none of those words are in the bible, but they are especially not in the Bible of Cantarella, who does pause at both the change in his tone and the description of the illness as something less physiological. She'd wondered as much, when the sniffles were held at bay by strange and incongruous behaviors.

She'll meet Foxglove at their level--sort of--bending down to place her hands on her knees.
]

When you say it "strips away identity," what does that entail? The removal of memories, personalities--forcing a person to think, act, or believe a certain way? And when you refer to it spreading here--where did it originate?

[Something about it is just so hideously ugly and familiar to her.]

[The video from earlier comes to mind; if they're connected,this isn't purely a sickness of the mind or body.

Cantarella knows too well what happens when someone deteriorates completely beyond being themselves. At that point, there is frequently only one gentle mercy left available. May it not come to that here.
]

A wide array of symptoms, stemming from the same infection... Just how long have you been observing this illness, Foxglove?

Hence, your joint cooperation.

[If their research is focused on another subject, there's a host of other problems that will entail. She does hope it's that simple, even if the simplest answer will be troubling in its own right.

Also, it's rather quaint to see Foxglove calling its colleagues puppets outright.
]

...Plants such as foxglove are my favorites, really. Cultivated properly, they might yield the deadliest poison or sweeten into a potent cure. [Though still cautious, Foxglove has been forthcoming, so she'll begin to peel the veil as well.] What are we to do if this disease has spread here? Can it be treated?
