ROLE - SCIENTIST

Greetings Scientist.

Are you ready to get to work? I certainly hope you are; everyone here is depending on you. After all, your role, your goal is to develop the cure for the raging infection. And if you're not ready to work or don't know where to start, both very understandable, there should be a notebook somewhere that will be of help to you.

Don't worry, you won't have to do this alone. You get to pick an assistant to help you! Maybe even one of those shady figures that go into hiding. Rumor has it that they'll either give you one (1) item to check someone if they are infected or not; it'll take the shape and form of whatever you want. Or, they'll help you create the cure once you know what to do. Isn't that handy?

Except, unfortunately, it's only one or the other. Bummer.

NOTES:
- This is NOT a secret role, however it would be beneficial if you did not make your role public.
- You may request help from one (1) other player and one (1) NPC of your choice. You cannot change your choice.
- If the item is chosen then you may check one (1) player at any point during the week, however, you MUST contact a mod before doing so. The number of players may change depending on outside circumstances.

[ Tonight he's not in the library.

Tonight, he's in the sitting room, slowly shaving away at a piece of wood with his knife. It's starting to look like a small, fluffy dog. ]

Y'shtola. Can I ask you a question?

[ When she gets back to the room, she's actually a bit surprised to see him, but she tilts her head. ]

Certainly. What is it?

[siriuspuns]

[ Swish. Swish. Swish. The knife whittles away at the piece of wood, but a larger knife is only so good with details. It's far from their best work, but at this point they're having a hard time remembering what their best work even was. ]

How do you know that I'm not sick?

[ She takes a seat across from them. ]

You do not display much of the symptoms I have come to know, and you have yet to transform. Do you believe yourself to be?

How am I supposed to know!? The blinding symptoms are all different!

[ Right? Right?! Loss of self, aggression, paranoia, fever, exhaustion-- isn't that just all him?! Haven't they felt all of this at some point?! What if they killed Amaya and simply




forgot? ]

I don't know! When I got here I felt awful! And then I felt better! But who knows if I'm... if I'm actually feeling better. What if Mabel was right and I just don't remember?! Stars, I don't know!

[ Ah.... well. It feels like Siffrin is barely hanging on, carving only as a means to center themselves.

She wonders if she should make some tea. ]

How did you feel when you arrived, and how do you feel now? Generally, not in this moment.

[ Because he's upset, and now is not a good time to judge how they feel overall. ]

[ Somehow...her measured response helps them find center.

I was... sick, I think. I didn't notice until I was actually feeling better. I was cold all the time, my stomach hurt, and I was so tired. Really hungry, too... I think I fought with Nala over food. [ They realize, that it felt slightly similar to this week. ] And then... I felt better. I don't know what changed.

[ Gee, she wonders what changed!! ]

Would you like some tea, Siffrin? I have an inkling that you could use some. Are you hungry now? Tired?

[siriuspuns]

[ (You’re not hungry, surprisingly enough.

Tired is a different story, though.) ]

Tea… would be nice. If you don’t mind.

[ Because he can’t help but feel that he’s forcing her to do this now as some sort of charity. ]

I would not offer if I did.

[ So she gets up and walks towards her cart, fiddling around with the cups and kettle. She'll go ahead and take this opportunity to make herself one, too. ]

You did fail to answer my inquiries. Are you exhausted?

I guess I’m a bit tired.

[ They’ve slept like maybe 16 hours this entire week. ]

Not a particularly definitive answer.

[ But it's fine. ]

Tea that will help you relax, then. I believe that should provide some assistance.

[ Good luck getting a definitive answer out of them.

Siffrin nods, putting the knife and wooden figure to the side in favor of trying to retreat into their cloak. ]

[ She doesn't seem to mind it, smiling softly even when she turns to spot them hunched over. ]

What is it that you're carving?

[ He turns the piece of wood in their hands. ]

Lynne had a dog that she really cared about. I figured I would give her something to remind her of him.

[ But they’re not even sure of how this dog is supposed to look so… is it really worth anything? ]

Kind of you. I'm certain she would cherish it. I do not know her well, admittedly, but my impression is that of someone who is rather sentimental.

[ So even if it doesn't look like a dog... she'll probably like it anyway. ]
