[Thancred is, thankfully, far less lizard and far more bundled up, in a way that looks like this is definitely not his first time rummaging around in the snow. He'll give a nod at the greeting.]

Aye, we've no need to stay here long. It does neither of us good if we lose you to the snow. [Still, he's digging through his pocket for a second as he continues.]

You've still your ability to detect magicks. Has your beloved well here shown any reaction?

[Lobelia tips his head to one side, curiosity arching his brow.]

Oh là là! I had no idea you cared so much for my safety. I'm flattered.

[He sounds sincere, and maybe that's worse than a flippant, sarcastic reply. Rising from his perch, Lobelia directs his attention to the well's waters.]

Mm, but non, I've not gathered any additional leads on the well itself. Although...

[Pulling a conch from his pocket, Lobelia tosses it in the well. With both eyes closed, he listens to the sound of its spiral fill with well water, listens for the moment it hits the bottom of the well. That moment never comes.]

...Supposing your hearing is as peerless as mine, you would have heard something most unusual just now. Rather, you would not have heard what you expected to hear. My conque never made it to the bottom of this well. Étrange, isn't it?

[Mmmmmmmmmmm the sincerity feels WEIRD.

Still, an inhale and an exhale and he can let it be.]

As though there is no bottom to begin with?

That makes it sound as some sort of portal

🥺🥺🥺

Oui, and yet I do not think a simple portal would explain its every eccentricity. I would suggest braving its waters to find out with certainty where the well ends, but you may not come out the other end unscathed.

Were we dealing with a regular well, I might take up the offer. [Don't ask how long he can hold his breath.] But we've already seen evidence of how the water has touched others. I'd not repeat their mistakes.
