[ NOT IF IT INVOLVES DYING AND REMOVING YOURSELF FROM THE CHAO- i mean. ]

... I think you just made drugs, Fran.

[ that's what it sounds like to him. ]

That I don't remember? There was an incident when I was little, so pretty much everything before I was five is gone.

[ ... ]

I... saw my mother get killed, apparently. Julius is the one who took me to Marvin - he adopted both of us later.

Oh, I do make those, too. I made a drug that temporary allowed someone to feel as though they could smell colors.

[ again, we are not unpacking that because damn this all suddenly took a turn?? you can't just say these things? okay, sure, fran asked but!!!! ]

Blocking out the memories would be a way that a mind would protect itself from a traumatic situation, especially if you were a child. [ fran is noticing how the absences of a father being mentioned here and there is only so many places that he feels comfortable to explore. ] I'm glad that you and your brother were able to find a place after that had happened.

[ Ludger hums, turning that over in his head. a traumatic situation... yes. it's only natural for children to be traumatized by the murder of a parent in front of them... ]

... Anyways, Julius was older than me, but still pretty young. We... ate a lot of takeout that he'd bring back to the apartment after all his work. I didn't have much to do, so one day I just decided I'd make him something instead.

[ STOP MAKING THE META OMINOUS. but anyway, fran is polite enough to know that they can move the conversation away from that and into something more recent. and pleasant. ]

And then the rest has been history.

I knew someone who is a great cook—most people wouldn't have expected him to be a great cook based on his looks or how behaved. It was surprising to see what he could come up with even when we didn't have a lot available to us.

[ no. ❤︎ ]

Well, now you have to tell me what he looks like and how he behaves. What's he like? And what's the best thing he made for you?

[ can Ludger make it better... ]

Are you going to compete with someone who isn't even here?

[ come on ludger...but give fran a moment to think about it. hmm. ]

He was taller than I am and extremely excitable. He had a way with words that either got himself into a lot of trouble or the people that he was with. That said, he was probably one of the best engineers that I've known.

I don't know the name of the dish he made but it was very good—it had a lot of vegetables in it.

I'm not competing, I'm using your recollection as inspiration.

[ :hehe: ]

Was Mr. Engineer a stew guy? Or a pasta guy?

If that's the case—

[ hmmm... ]

He was a bit of "whatever inspired him" kind of guy. Though, I believe he made more soups for us than pasta dishes since they're easier to share with a lot of people.
