PREMISE

The MESSAGE is scrambled and distorted, but it doesn’t come from any familiar voice, or even a voice to begin with—not that it matters, as you feel the words all the same. Resonate with them. It’s not a command; it’s a request framed as a statement. The message creates an oppressive weight on your chest with its grief. Underneath the grief, however, is a simmering, insatiable hunger. A hunger you can feel in the back of your mouth.

It momentarily cripples you, immobilizes you, and forces your eyes shut, but only for a fleeting moment. Once that moment passes, both the grief and hunger vanish completely and do not linger. You feel like yourself again, but when you open your eyes, you’ll find yourself in a field that you do not recognize surrounded by unfamiliar buildings.

Hello & welcome to your interest check for pestilentem, an upcoming murdergame opening on November 3rd. The game will incorporate various horror themes and tropes and is expected to be plot intensive; we are prepared to accommodate no more than 30 players. All characters will be challenged weekly, allowing them to choose to work together or against each other to influence the outcome of the game.

THE BASICS
▸ Characters will find themselves transported to the game's setting from their current canon point moments after they have expressed a desire, no matter how significant or insignificant that desire is. The specifics of how they got here will not be clear to them.
▸ All powers will be nerfed upon arrival and all/any characters who are dead/have sustained a fatal injury will be brought into the game in good health.
▸ Cast caps are set to three (3) characters per canon. This excludes franchised canons such as the Persona series and Final Fantasy where each specific series will count individually.
▸ Characters do not have to be humanoid in order to be appable; they just have be able to be killed. If you are unsure about your choices, feel free to ask your mods!
▸ While characters of all ages and backgrounds are welcome, we will be taking suitability in mind for this game. Please remember that this a horror-themed game so there will be a lot of sensitive material and content.
▸ It's possible that your character will be chosen to kill, so they must be willing to do so. Characters may also be incentivized to kill on their own. Please keep these things in mind when deciding on your character choices.

🌸 Ninurta from Cavalier of the Abyss! He's my strongest contender for a setting like this. A prince and knight fallen from grace, he's a gentlemanly good boy with a strong sense of justice. Though ice aligned, he's emotional and reactive. He just wants everything and everyone to be okay, but, alas.


🌸 Yuki(nosuke) from Shounen Dolls! My recent brainworms blorbo, he's a literal clay doll that is periodically granted humanoid form to quell the suffering spirits of other dolls. He's polite, genial, pragmatic, and pretty Yamato Nadeshiko - but way too serious about everything, and also a lil weird because being a doll affects how he approaches interactions.

Alternatively, I last minute binge something and swerve, as is my wont. Regardless of who I pick, I will very likely bring in a good boy with a strong sense of right and wrong! So it's ultimately a matter of what flavor of that calls to me.

First up on the chopping block is Zvei, an OC! He's an amnesiac and a deimori (his world's version of a demon) who absolutely loves learning, the unknown, and SCIENCE. He also has the morality and empathy of a rock, which is to say: absolutely none. Though he acts chill 24/7, he is the least chill person in the entire world when it comes to certain things...

Alternative considerations (because I did just play him in a murdergame and might change my mind) are: Fray Myste (FFXIV), Hubert von Vestra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses), Castor (Bravely Default II), the Emperor (FFII), or maybe Aventurine or Boothill (Honkai: Star Rail) assuming I can get back to canon review lmao. Of these, Hubert is the most likely option.

Likelihood: I will absolutely be shocked if I have to back out, let's say 95%.
Concern(s): This is like. the most character-specific question. But Zvei comes with built-in tentacles that are quite literally part of his body and not a power. Said tentacles are not much stronger than he is (he uses magic to use them as weapons). Can he keep said tentacles? He can draw up to six large or twelve small from his back, but I'm totally fine nerfing the number of them, if that helps? He'd just be extremely weirded out and mildly physically uncomfortable if he can't bring them out at all, but I'm down to play with that lmao.
