[ man imagine if the sandwich was loaded stuff Fran was deathly allergic to- ]
Hey, can't keep a cook out of the kitchen.
[ and now that Fran is eating, Ludger will set up the pillow and blanket he'd brought on one of the infirmary cots/couches. whatever there is in here. ]
horizontal is still pretty comfy! but the main thing is hanging out with Fran, so he'll set up wherever is closest. ]
A little bit of both honestly. Julius never cooked when I was little, so I just started doing it. I was terrible in the beginning, but it made Julius happy, so it made me happy. And it kind of grew from there.
[ slides back to this because i've been wanting to and no one can stop me. :yell: ]
What a nice younger brother to want to cook for their older brother. I don't have siblings but I know something like that would've made me happy to.
[ though he can't help get the feeling that there might be more to it, but it's fine. it doesn't matter just as long as it's a good memory (which it seems like it is). ]
Uh, I enjoy creating and experimenting with new chemicals, and generally just experimenting to see what I could come up with.
It doesn't it? [ he'll laugh softly. ] But these experiments are just ones that I do without being tied to anything than what I want to do personally. Nothing that I'm being asked to do.
[ like a professional artist getting to draw for themselves sort of vibe here. ]
I don't remember that much from when Julius and I first started living together.
[ well. are you going to unpack that, Fran? ]</small.
So, what kinds of fun experiments are you doing? Curing cancer? Making liquids that glow purple if you add water?
Having liquids glow purple after adding water does sound fun but wouldn't be that difficult. I once made a drink that would make people feel unnaturally happy for a few hours.
[ let's not unpack that real fast and instead unpack this. ]
Oh, I do make those, too. I made a drug that temporary allowed someone to feel as though they could smell colors.
[ again, we are not unpacking that because damn this all suddenly took a turn?? you can't just say these things? okay, sure, fran asked but!!!! ]
Blocking out the memories would be a way that a mind would protect itself from a traumatic situation, especially if you were a child. [ fran is noticing how the absences of a father being mentioned here and there is only so many places that he feels comfortable to explore. ] I'm glad that you and your brother were able to find a place after that had happened.
[ Ludger hums, turning that over in his head. a traumatic situation... yes. it's only natural for children to be traumatized by the murder of a parent in front of them... ]
... Anyways, Julius was older than me, but still pretty young. We... ate a lot of takeout that he'd bring back to the apartment after all his work. I didn't have much to do, so one day I just decided I'd make him something instead.

Scratching, wailing, knocking - it started softly but it got pretty loud. Siffrin couldn't hear it at all though.
[ so, you know, another mark in the "Is It Haunted y/n" tally ]
no subject
You went with Siffrin?!
[ WHY ARE THERE MORE PEOPLE GOIND TO THESE THINGS. ]
no subject
[ it's dangerous to go alone, Fran ]
no subject
You both should be more careful when going to places.

How have you been feeling? Any changes?
no subject
I haven't felt anything, and it doesn't seem like there's been anything different physically...
[ unless it's under his skin ]
Should something have changed?
no subject
Ideally nothing would have changed from last week to this week. [ nod nod. this is a good thing. ] So, hearing that nothing has changed makes me glad.
I'll still be counting on you to let me know if you experience any changes.
no subject
Well, it didn't really seem like there was anything to do.
[ he shrugs a little ]
I'll keep you informed. Thanks for keeping an eye on me.
no subject
Thank you. I want to make sure that nothing happens to you while I might be able to do something about it.
no subject
Well.
[ he looks away, the tips of his ears visibly flushing. ]
... Thank you for all your hard work. I know we haven't been the easiest neighbors, but I really do appreciate everything you've done for us.
no subject
You're welcome.
However, whether you didn't believe me, or any of us, I was going to work to help you all the same.
no subject
But it's easier when we're working as a group, right? For example-
[ and here he'll pull out a sandwich from the basket ]
-Food comes to you.
no subject
Yes, it's much easier when we can.
[ time to help himself to one of the sammiches ]
And thank you, again, for the sandwiches.

there are two seater couches in the lobby/reception area!! as well as normal chairs. not exactly The Most Cozy but cozy enough. ]
Is cooking something you picked up as a hobby purposefully or something that you just enjoy doing?

[ he smiles to himself at the memory ]
What about you, any hobbies?
[ he glances around the infirmary ]
Besides research?

I'm just glad it worked - things back then were... kind of tough. I think?
[ he frowns, trying to remember those distant days Julius wrote about in his letter but... well, youth. childhood amnesia. it's a rather fuzzy time. ]
... Fran, that sounds like your hobby is more work. What makes these experiments different from what you're already doing?
no subject
You think...?
[ hmmmm. there's something to unpack there but— ]

What did you mean by you don't remember..?
wow like i'm not in ur dms rn
... I think you just made drugs, Fran.
[ that's what it sounds like to him. ]
That I don't remember? There was an incident when I was little, so pretty much everything before I was five is gone.
[ ... ]
I... saw my mother get killed, apparently. Julius is the one who took me to Marvin - he adopted both of us later.
