ROLE - DOCTOR

Hello Doctor.

Can I call you "doctor"? Well, regardless of your feelings on the matter or whether you have the qualifications of being a doctor, this will now be your role. Your task will be simple - figure out who has been infected and help them. A bit daunting of a task, I know, however it will come with an upside!

You will be completely immune from the infected and will be given an item that will let you know how recently that person has been infected. If they have been infected in the first place. This item will take shape of whatever you wish it to be but will have a single (1) use - unfortunately.

Oh, and before you leave, there's a book titled "Doctors for Dummies" that you may find to be very interesting. It might help you out - help all of us out.

NOTES:
- The book will be updated every Monday at 9 AM of the new week.
- This is NOT a secret role, however it would be beneficial if you did not make your role public.
- You may request help from one (1) other player and one (1) NPC of your choice. You cannot change your choice.
- Pick one (1) person to save on Thursday, even if you are chosen to die that week.

[ and foxglove will be, remarkably, dexterous despite being a puppet making sure to only prick her once (after cleaning the site bc this puppet knows germ theory!!) and quickly in order to get a sampling into another vial before offering her a bandage. the bedside manner of this puppet will be excellent. ]

Exposure after being injured does make sense with most other illnesses, and there hasn't been enough proof for me to know how it's transmitted. [ and here is when it'll mumble to itself because here is a reality it doesn't want to face. ] ...unless it's something that spreads in all manner possible.

I do find it ever so intriguingly delightful [she does not] that we are even less ourselves than we might have been the week before.

[She still can't speak to everyone's personality...and now the waters are further muddied still, offering no clarity for her while she continues to try and monitor for infection. There's no wince this time as they prick her to draw blood. Chameleonic symptoms and an origin they can't trace...Her free hand rubs at her forehead in consternation.]

If I am immune, and you all have been keeping your distance, at least this shift can be otherwise spoken for. At least it's only a slightly uncomfortable change, hm? [Presuming it was the same for him, but also palpating the mood to see if his little bunny ears hurt coming in.] It certainly won't make spotting anything else easier. It's like we're a succulent meal being played with.

I certainly prefer this change compared to the others that I've seen, but the timing of it all is interesting. I wonder if it's meant to throw us off and make things even more difficult much like that strange place we were taken the other week.

[ it had made the remark that it had been worried about how the interference might have been intentional. a baseless claim at the time but now...maybe not so much. it's ears perk up when a thought circles back around. ]

When you said you weren't poisonous or venomous earlier, it wasn't related to this change, was it? [ it's ears twitch again as it makes sure that the samples it took from her are safely secured and sealed. ] Is that another reason why you're hesitant—not that it still isn't understandable.

As the informational card you received indicates, I developed a tolerance to most poisonous substances over several years.

[This part is not what drives Cantarella's somewhat darkened expression. She long ago accepted what life as a young girl in the Fisalia family had expected from her. But the thought that everything else so cruelly sacrificed would now be thrown to the side...]

My natural resistance to toxins seems to have abandoned me just the same as my Resonance abilities. Maybe one immunity was paid as the price for the other, but still...

[ as foxglove is able to put two and two together from what it has already learned from her, it'll have an idea of what she's saying here without actually saying it. ...and it'll be considerate enough not to press her too much.

If it was an exchange in order to make you immune to the illness... Perhaps, once the illness has been cured, it would come back naturally.

[Thanks for not making her say "I ate a poison flower" directly, Foxglove. The jellyfish-shyness does make her more hesitant to say it outright than she normally would be, just like it makes her only slightly shy about their potential judgment for ill-advised and dangerous medical stunts. She would not hesitate at all otherwise.]

Though my tolerance for poison is natural, a heavy sacrifice was paid to obtain it. [And not just by her, from the way she describes it.] So...the theory does hold water. I'll keep faith that you're right about this equal exchange.

[Huh...like the ticket box and like the well. Huh.] I look forward to the results of your testing. Do you know when I might expect them? In the meantime, I'll keep an eye on the others. Some of them seem to be having a harder time with this than others. The feeling of suffocation isn't a stranger to me.

[ more of the pieces of this picture is starting to form within foxglove's head... no, it really wasn't much of a legacy, now was it? but yeah, foxglove is a considerate puppet who has social skills.

If I dedicate all of my time to it, I might have something ready by next week that may be useable. [ it'll tap its chin thoughtfully. ] It'd only be a small sample since I only have a limited supply of my things and have to rely on my notes.

[ there's an unspoken "if i only had an infected to test on" here but foxglove is going to avoid putting that to words as long as it can. ]

[It's unspoken but orbiting them. They can leave the moral and ethical questions of testing new medicines waiting...regrettably, Cantarella already knows she can't serve as a useful patient if everything else is true. If someone else is willing...even then, she's careful about exposing anyone but herself to volatile and untested compounds.]

Though I recognize how easy it can be to fall into singular focus, don't neglect yourself or anything else that needs to be done. If I find it impossible to find you over the course of the next few days, though, I'll assume you've gone deep down into your burrow.

In the meantime, I'd be interested to know anything you find out from testing my materials. [How disappointing to be a jellyfish but not one with any particularly interesting potency...] I quite enjoyed reviewing my own Resonator report.

Thank you, Cantarella. [ while she can't see the expression it's making, hopefully the softness in its voice will do. ] I'm sure that the others won't allow me to lock myself up in my lab until I'm able to find a way to treat everyone.

And I'll make sure to share my findings with you—if I didn't, we wouldn't be properly working with one another. Right? [ says foxglove who has been shouldering so much on its own. that said— ] About your profile, though, was any of it false? I remember that the profiles from earlier weren't entirely truthful.

For the latter, one thing specifically is completely incorrect. Sea apples are not my favorite food, though I do find them useful as an ingredient for many potions. Ingested as they are, they cause organ damage.

Of the other...all is true, though I couldn't tell you what ASMR is meant to be, and I find "familicide" rather insultingly exaggerated. I've already told you about my dear lord, the former family head...but it is true that I am the deadliest poison the family has ever seen. You already know that my resistance and illusions are unavailable to me. All true, therefore, but cruel.
